For durian lovers, supply of durian fruits are now available for longer months because its fruiting season in Luzon starts in January to February and its harvesting time falls in April to July wile in Mindanao, from August to October.
However, planting durian in Luzon should be modified because of the waterlogged condition during the rainy season. Durian must be planted with double rootstock and provided with drainage otherwise, it should be planted in a mound or in an upraised bed. Common disease in Luzon are the Phythopthora root rot, Patch canker disease and cracking of stem and trunk - these can be easily remedied if the grower is already well versed with the diseases.
